These regional, combined auditions are a low-cost way to do exactly that. Every year, in February or March, each of these combined auditions are attended by dozens of producers who are looking for talented actors and actresses to perform in live, summertime productions. Some offer year-round positions, school touring, apprentice and intern positions as well. Graduate school programs use many of these auditions to enroll students.
Many of the organizations offer, for a small fee, a variety of workshops in addition to auditions. These workshops can be attended by those who audition
and
those who do not audition.

to the the organizations that interests you. Request information about their auditions and an application. Since the auditions generally occur in February and March, write for information and applications in early December.
The regional auditions listed below are
not for beginners new to the stage
. They are for experienced, talented, skilled performers. Most (not all) require that you be at least 18 years old to apply and be available to work all summer long. Almost all are open to non-Equity as-well-as Equity performers. There are always many more applicants then audition spots available.

The Unified Auditions are annual professional auditions which allow Equity and qualifying non-Equity performers, 18 years & older, to audition before approximately 60 Atlanta area®ional theatre companies. The Unified Auditions are a program of the Atlanta Performs (formerly known as ACPA) in support of its membership and the greater Atlanta, Georgia performing arts industry.
The Unified Auditionsare held in early spring. Equity auditions will be scheduled for half day with non-Equity auditions following. A second day will be for non-Equity and Emerging Actors/College Graduates. There are no Callbacks scheduled as part of the Unified Auditions. Participating companies will individually schedule callbacks and future auditions.

The annual Boston-area StageSource auditions are held in the Spring.
Stage Source, The Greater Boston Theatre Alliance, provides leadership and services to advance the art of theatre in the greater Boston region.
Approximately 50 theatre companies, casting directors, and film producers from Boston and the surrounding New England area are expected to attend this event to see over 400 auditioners in four days. Producers sometimes have cast people directly from this audition. More often they use this as a preliminary call and bring people in for callbacks later in the year, or even in future years. Even if they have seen you audition before, this is a great opportunity to show them another side to your work, or to refresh their memory.
You must be a current PAID StageSource member in order to audition.
Union and nonunion actors are eligible to audition.

You must be at least 18-years-old to register for the workshops and statewide auditions. Exception: If you are under 18 and have professional acting credit (past or current work with professional theatre companies), you may audition and participate in the acting workshops.
These auditions and workshops are organized for professional Equity AND Non-Equity actors. If you're Non-Equity, please make sure these auditions fit your professional career goals.
You must be available to work as a professional actor at one or more of the professional companies participating throughout the state. So, if you are seriously pursuing a professional acting career, then we encourage you to register and audition.
If you are not actively pursuing a professional acting career, we encourage you to participate in the workshops we conduct throughout the weekend to add to your experience and training and to audition for the wonderful community theatres located throughout our state.

The annual NETC Theater Auditions provide a service whereby producers and directors of New England and other theatres from throughout the country meet in a group to audition and interview candidates for positions in summer and year-round professional theatres as performers, designers, technicians, and theatre / production staff.
These theatres offer both job-in and full-season employment, as well as apprentice and intern positions and Equity Membership Candidacy Programs. The Institute of Outdoor Drama sponsors the only combined auditions bringing outdoor historical dramas, performers and technicians to one place. Outdoor historical dramas offer some of the nation's most exciting summer theatre employment opportunities.
Outdoor dramas are epic plays performed in scenic, expansive amphitheatres across the country. Big, bold, and well defined are the operative terms for these shows. They tell the story of a dramatic historic event or represent the life of an historic figure through music, dance and theatrical spectical. The casts are large and need good acting, singing and dance skills. Performers with stunt, stage combat and horseback skills are needed as well.
Typically, 150-200 auditionees from 50 or more colleges and universities in 20 states vie for jobs offered by 15-20 theatres in attendance from around the country.

PATA's City-Wide Auditions are a great opportunity for actors, with one audition, to be seen by theatres, theatre companies, and independent directors, both film and stage. StrawHat gathers theatres across the country, production and entertainment companies, casting directors and even TV shows looking for actors to fill roles in plays, musicals and other media. When you apply to StrawHat, your picture and résumé are put in StrawHat's Online Casting database, and you get access to the information on the members area of the site. If you're accepted for an audition, your picture and résumé will be published in the StrawHat directory, distributed to all attending theatres. Each Winter, the University/Resident Theatre Association holds a series of auditions and interviews involving hundreds of the country's outstanding undergraduate and advanced theatre students. The National Unified Auditions and Interviews are conducted in New York City, Chicago and San Francisco, with candidates coming from around the world. Candidates are provided the opportunity to vie for numerous positions with graduate schools and occasionally opportunities for seasonal employment with summer theatre companies, Shakespeare festivals and other professional producing organizations.
Acting candidates in NYC and Chicago are screened first by panels of graduate program teachers, casting directors and/or other members of the professional community, and those of superior talent are passed on to the Final Auditions. At this time, there is no screening process in San Francisco and all acting candidates who apply are seen, but space is limited.
